IWM, South Asia's largest Mathematical Modelling Institute, has a team of skilled, dynamic and well-trained talented resources. Human Resource Development unit is one of the most integrated parts of Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). Functions of the HRD unit includes recruitment, service regularization, promotion, performance appraisal, employee orientation, staff benefit management, grievance handling, training and many other aspects to provide satisfactory service to its employees.
Recruitment is one of most important actiivities of HRD Unit. To meet the present and upcoming needs of the human resources, the HRD unit places job advertisements in the IWM website and online job portals inviting applications from the eligbile candidates. HRD scrutinize the job applications based on position requirements and performs the entire hiring process including short listing, arranging written exam and/or viva and final selection through managment approval.
HRD manages the performance appraisal of all regular and contract employees twice a year. The performance records are maintained confidentially with HRD. The performance records plays a role as an important parameter in determining the promotion decision and lateral transfer of an employee.
One of the core functions of the HRD unit is to conduct Training Needs Assessment (TNA). We beleive that training is an inevitable tool to develop human resources to meet the skillsets required for current and upcoming jobs. Based on the TNA, HRD prepares annual training and development programs at the start of each year. The trainings are held at home and abroad.
HRD unit arranges orientation program for its new employees. All new employees at the start of the orientation program receive floral greetings by the managment representatives. The orientation course gives the opportunity to the new employees to get aquainted with the functions of all other working diviions and units of IWM. The program includes the house rules, staff service benefits and facilities, information about career growth and career development opportunities etc.
