Academic Chronology

Sanzida Akter completed her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in January 2021.

Professional Track Record

Sanzida Akter has been serving as a Junior Irrigation Engineer at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) since September 2021, specializing in irrigation management, hydrology, and water resources engineering. With a strong academic foundation in Civil Engineering, she has contributed to multiple national projects focusing on sustainable water resource development and environmental management.

Her major contributions include work on the Mathematical Modelling Study for Rehabilitation of Barisal Irrigation Project (BWDB) and the Assessment of the Effectiveness of Constructed/To Be Constructed Rubber Dams in Bangladesh (BADC). She has also played key roles in the Feasibility Study on Appropriate Water Supply Technologies in Climate Risk Hotspots of Coastal Areas (DPHE).

Her expertise includes GIS-based mapping and spatial analysis, surface water modelling using MIKE 11, groundwater assessment using the Single Cell Thana Model (SCTM). She is proficient in ArcGIS, MIKE 11, and CropWAT, with extensive experience in field data collection, data processing and report preparation

Sanzida Akter has enhanced her expertise through training in mathematical modelling at the Institute of Water Modelling.

• Training on “Groundwater Modelling” at IWM Headquarters, Dhaka, from 23 to 27 February 2025.
• Exposure Field Visit Training to gain practical knowledge about flood management of Haor areas in Kishoreganj district, (August 11, 2023)
• Training Course on 1D-MIKE NAM and MIKE11 by Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), (July 17-19, 2022).
