Academic Chronology

Tasmira Hamid completed her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Oceanography from Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU) in February 2025, with a robust academic background and hands-on expertise in GIS and water chemistry, her primary research interests include Ocean-Atmosphere Interaction, Environmental Geochemistry and Climate finance. Her thesis focused on the impacts of microplastics and trace metals on coastal ecosystems and human health. She Worked as a Research Assistant for Ecotoxicology studies and Eco-Hydrological sustainability assessments for offshore islands (Hatiya and Monpura).

Professional Track Record

Tasmira Hamid has been serving as a GIS Analyst within the Climate Change and Environment Unit at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). Her professional journey began in GIS, where she specialized in georeferencing and advanced map editing using ArcMap, before being deputed to the International Climate Finance Cell (ICFC) under the Ministry of Finance, Bangladesh. There she facilitated stakeholder trainings and seminars while managing Green Climate Fund (GCF) proposals, streamlined climate finance data and providing technical support for COP30 preparations. In her current role within IWM’s Climate Change and Environment Unit, she focuses on processing complex meteorological data and conducting environmental and social impact monitoring across coastal regions.
