Academic Chronology

Shafkatul Haque completed his Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Engineering (WRE) from the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in June 2022. His undergraduate thesis focused on hydrodynamic responses of the Ganges River due to structural interventions using HEC-RAS 2D modelling.


Professional Track Record

Shafkatul Haque is currently working as a Junior Engineer at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) since June 2022. His expertise includes participatory rural appraisal (PRA), feasibility studies, AutoCAD design of water infrastructures, and field data collection for sustainable water resources planning. He has been actively involved in multidisciplinary rural water development and irrigation efficiency enhancement projects, working closely with local government officials and stakeholders across Bangladesh.

His responsibilities span from field assessments and community consultations to data analysis and final reporting, including mapping, cost estimation, and multimedia documentation support for presentations and workshops. His contributions have been critical in evaluating, designing, and implementing water management interventions in various districts of Bangladesh.

Major Projects & Assignment

Detail Feasibility Study & Detail Design for Small Scale Water Resources Development Project (Phase-2) (SSWRDP-2): Has conducted PRA across 39 Upazilas in 19 Districts; coordinated with local LGED offices and stakeholders for field data and community engagement; designed and evaluated subprojects using AutoCAD, RSEPS, and GIS tools; prepared maps (index, hydrological, satellite-based), feasibility and design reports, and cost estimates; Facilitated stakeholder meetings and planning sessions.

Consultancy for Strategic Action Plan for Efficient Irrigation Technologies and Training Modules: Has conducted field visits across Mymensingh, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Bogra; collected primary data from BADC officials and beneficiaries; supported meeting coordination and report preparation for strategic action plan development.
