Academic Chronology

Mr. Islam graduated in Civil and Water Resources Engineering from MIST, Dhaka, in 2019.

Professional Track Record

Mr. Islam began his career as a Junior GIS Analyst with the Institute of Water Modelling in 2019. He joined the River Morphology and Engineering Division in 2021. Mr. Islam has been engaged in the application of advanced mathematical modelling techniques in the field of River Morphology. He is also proficient in GIS and Remote Sensing. He left IWM in September 2025 to pursue his PhD at the University of California, Riverside.

Mr. Islam received specialized training in “Computational Hydraulics, Hydrology and Hydraulics and Statistics for Water Management" at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His research interests include river bank erosion, avulsion, geomorphology, and integrated river basin management.
