Academic Chronology
Mr. Md. Jahangir Murshed obtained Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Agronomy from Gazipur Agricultural University, Gazipur, in 2000. He earned Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Agriculture from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, in 1997. After completion of his Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Agronomy he completed Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Personnel Management from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Dhaka, in 2003.
Professional Track Record
Mr. Murshed has extensive experience in agricultural development projects directed towards food security and livelihood improvement through water resources development. Good understanding and knowledge on cropping systems, cropping patterns, crop production constraints affecting agricultural production in different Agroecological zones (AEZs) of the country including climate change impact.
He has been serving at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) since January 2022 as an Agronomist, where he works with multidisciplinary ESIA teams of experts on projects related to flood management, drainage improvement, water conservation, irrigation and command area development etc. His responsibilities include agricultural data analysis, land use mapping, crop suitability assessment, estimation of benefits from project interventions and preparing agricultural reports on the projects.
He has expertise in Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), training & capacity building, guidebooks and training material preparation.
Earlier, he worked with several national and international organizations including Centre for Resources Development Studies Ltd, JICA-LGED Technical Cooperation Project, SETS Consultants Ltd., and House of Consultants Ltd., where he contributed to agricultural feasibility studies, participatory rural appraisal (PRA), and environmental and socioeconomic assessments. His work has been integral in linking agriculture with sustainable water resources management across Bangladesh.
