Academic Chronology

Ms. Ismat completed her graduation in Civil Engineering from BUET in 2003 and M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the same university in 2009. She also completed a six months Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management in Institute of Disaster Management And Vulnerability Studies under Dhaka University.

Professional Track Record

Ms. Ismat has over two decades of experience in the water resources sector, beginning her career with a foundational role as a temporary Assistant Engineer at Public Works Department (PWD) in February 2003, followed by a brief period at National Development Engineers Ltd. Since November 2003, she has been a key contributor at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), specializing.

Her expertise includes leading and contributing to a wide range of studies, including Feasibility and Pre-Feasibility Studies for comprehensive analysis for water supply and drainage projects in urban areas, Master Planning for Development of strategic master plans for water resource management, Water Quality Assessment with in-depth evaluation of water quality to identify issues and guide interventions, Climate Impact Analysis for assessing the effects of climate change on water resources, including the development of inundation maps for flooding.

Ms. Ismat is highly proficient in data processing and the development of both 1-D and 2-D models for various applications, including rainfall-runoff, hydrodynamic, drainage, water quality, and watershed basins and has successfully managed project supervision, report writing, and professional training for colleagues both in Bangladesh and abroad. Through these roles and successful completion of numerous projects, she has developed a robust and versatile skill set that has contributed significantly to major water management projects at home and abroad.
