Academic Chronology

Mr. Billah completed his graduation in Civil Engineering from BUET, Dhaka in 2021. His major was in Environmental Engineering.  Currently he is pursuing his M.Sc. Degree in Climate Modelling and Risk Management from IWFM, BUET. 

Professional Track Record

Mr. Billah began his career as a Junior Engineer with the Survey & Data division of Institute of Water Modelling in 2022. He was engaged in preparation of survey plans, survey maps & water level hydrograph using water level gauge & sensor data; processing of  Single Beam bathymetric, Multibeam bathymetric, Topographic survey data,  ADCP discharge data, TLS survey data, Feature survey data, Sediment sample data & Water quality sample data; operation of Single Beam Echosounder, Multibeam Echosounder, ADCP, TLS, TS & Spectrophotometer; quality control of survey data through field monitoring & regular accuracy check; contribution to report writing & deliverables. He joined the River Morphology and Engineering Division in 2024. Mr. Billah is currently engaged in the application of advanced mathematical modelling techniques in the field of River Hydro-Morphology. He is adept at geo-spatial analysis software (Arc GIS) and Remote Sensing techniques using Google Earth Engine. He is also proficient in multiple programming languages (Python, JavaScript and VBA).

Mr. Billah has received specialized training in field apparatus deployment, operation and calibration, river modelling using MIKE and HEC-RAS and also geo-spatial analysis. His research interests include water quality parameters, earth systems modelling, sediment transportation, geomorphology, integrated river basin management and climatology.
