PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS
Academic Chronology
Mr. Salim graduated in Water Resources Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in October 2018.
Professional Track Record
Mr. Salim began his professional career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Water Resources Engineering at BUET, contributing to a research project with WARPO. In September 2019, he joined the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) as a Junior Engineer in the Survey and Data Division. During his tenure there, lasting until February 2021, he gained substantial experience in hydrographic, hydrological, and morphological data collection.
Since 2021, Mr. Salim has been a part of the River Morphology and Engineering Division at IWM, where he has played an active role in the development of hydro-morphological models for Bangladesh’s major rivers. He is skilled in 1D and 2D hydro-morphological modeling (including MIKE 11, MIKE 21C, MIKE 21FM, MIKE Flood, Delft 3D, HEC-RAS) and proficient in geospatial analysis software, such as ArcGIS.
Training/Membership/Workshop/Seminar/Publication etc.
Mr. Salim has completed several specialized training programs in river management and mathematical modeling. He co-authored the following paper published in Evolving Earth.
- MD. Raihanul Islam, Imran Khan, MD. Alifnur Salim, M.D. Musfequzzaman. “Reconstruction of avulsion history of the Brahmaputra River: Rare example of a giant braided river course alteration through multi-channel multi-avulsion processes.” Evolving Earth. 2024. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.eve.2024.100034.
