PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS

Academic Chronology

Adiba Mosharraf completed her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Oceanography from Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU), specializing in a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the complex dynamics of the ocean, atmosphere, climate, and environment. Her research interests are focused on performing detailed spatial and temporal analyses, utilizing both remotely sensed and primary datasets, ocean color, physical oceanography, chemical oceanography, and environmental toxicology. By integrating physical, chemical, biological, and meteorological data, Adiba aims to uncover the intricate relationships and regulatory mechanisms that govern climatic factors.

Professional Track Record

Adiba Mosharraf has been serving as a Jr. Climate Change Analyst at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), where climate variabilities such as heatwaves, droughts, and excess rainfall in coastal Bangladesh have been assessed. Responsibilities have included processing climate and model data, applying machine learning to fill historical datasets, conducting bias correction, assessing Urban Heat Island (UHI) effects, supervising meteorological data collection, and monitoring environmental and social impacts in coastal and riverine chars. The effects of ENSO and IOD on flood variability have also been evaluated, alongside concept development and report writing. From 2019 to 2023, Adiba worked as a Research Assistant (RA) at BMU, where chlorophyll-a concentrations in the Bay of Bengal were assessed, seaweed toxicity and nutritional analyses were performed, and contamination in water and sediment samples from coastal and shipbreaking areas was investigated.
