PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS
EDUCATION
Rafsan Al Amin holds a Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Engineering (WRE) from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he graduated in February 2021. He is currently pursuing advanced studies abroad.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Rafsan Al Amin is a water resources engineer with almost three years of professional experience at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). He has contributed to a broad spectrum of projects spanning hydrological and hydraulic modelling, groundwater investigation and modelling, environmental impact assessment, irrigation planning, and water infrastructure feasibility studies, serving national and international clients including the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) of the Government of Bangladesh, WARPO, LGED, BWDB, BADC, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, CSIRO, JICA, Deltares, the Dutch Government Emissaries, and government bodies of Maldives, Nepal, and Malaysia. Rafsan Al Amin is proficient in industry-standard modelling platforms including MIKE 11, MIKE NAM, MIKE SHE, and MODFLOW, and in GIS-based spatial analysis using ArcGIS and QGIS. He has prepared AutoCAD 2D design drawings for irrigation canal networks and trained junior staff in these workflows. Beyond the technical dimension, Rafsan Al Amin has played an active role in stakeholder engagement, conducting Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRA), facilitating Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and organizing national, district, and sub-district level workshops with government officials. He has participated in fieldwork including reconnaissance, land and bathymetric surveys, and has contributed to the preparation of tender documents, Expressions of Interest, and project proposals across multiple assignments.
