Mr. Kabir obtained Bachelor of Science with Honours in Applied Physics and Electronics from Rajshahi University in 1989 and Master of Science in Applied Physics and Electronics with specialization in Computer Science from the same University in 1991. His Master’s research area was the comparative studies of Numerical Mathematics and the dissertation entitled “Numerical Problem Solving with Turbo Pascalâ€Â
Mr. Kabir has a professional career of 19 years in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). He undertakes assignments in the areas of Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing, Software Engineering and Database management and has been working in consultancy, academia and GIS, Software development and MIS operations in the developing and developed countries. He has extensive experience of working as technical specialist on both studies and project implementations, and of working in multi-disciplinary teams and complex institutional settings. Mr. Kabir joined Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) as GIS/Database Specialist in April 2009. He started his professional career with Development Design Consultants Ltd, in 1992, and was involved with the main stream of GIS, Software engineering and Database management. In August, 1997 he joined Mott MacDonald Group (UK) Ltd as GIS Specialist, and he worked in various local and overseas projects in UK, UAE and China. In 2007 he joined WSP International Management Consulting (UK) Ltd. as GIS/MIS Advisor and has leaded GIS/MIS teams of Transport Sector Management Reform Project.
Mr. Kabir has participated in lot of professional trainings in country and overseas namely in Singapore and UK on GIS, Software Engineering and Database Management. He has several research publications on GIS, ICT for development and e-Governance application both in local and international journals/seminar/conferences. He has participated in a number of local and International seminars and workshops. In addition he is a member of Bangladesh Computer Society and Bangladesh Society for Geo-Informatics.
